Customs Department Requirements and Duty-Free Allowance

Fiji allows travellers over 17 years old to import up to 2.25 liters of spirits, 4.5 liters of wine/beer, and 200 cigarettes or 250g of tobacco duty-free. Personal items, laptops, and goods up to FJD $400 in value are also duty-free. Visitors must fill out a passenger arrival card and declare any restricted goods or large cash amounts.

Duty-Free Allowance (Per Passenger Aged 17+)

  • Alcoholic Beverages:Up to 2.25 liters of spirits OR 4.5 liters of wine or beer.
  • Tobacco Products:200 sticks of cigarettes OR 200g of cigars OR 200g of tobacco.
  • Other Goods:New items not exceeding FJ$400 in total value.
  • Personal Effects:Used personal clothing, toilet articles, and belongings are generally free of duty if they are for personal use, not for sale, and brought with you.
  • Cash:Amounts of FJD $10,000 or more (or equivalent) must be declared.

  • Prohibited Items:Firearms, explosives, illegal drugs, and obscene materials are prohibited.
  • Restricted Goods:Firearms and weapons require a police permit. Specific agricultural items, seeds, and animal products are prohibited or require permits to prevent disease.
  • Departure Tax:A $20.00 FJD departure tax is usually included in airline tickets.

Fiji Driving License: Traffic Laws: Driving in Fiji requires a valid foreign or international driver’s license (in English), a minimum age of 21 (usually for rentals), and strict adherence to left-side driving. Key requirements include mandatory seatbelts, no mobile phone use, and adhering to strict speed limits: 50km/h in town, 80km/h on highways and 20km/h in villages.
