DESCRIPTION:The PPA Secretariat is pleased to provide you with the summary information on next year’s 29thAnnual PPA Conference and Trade Exhibition which will be hosted by Pohnpei Utilities Corporation (PUC) in Kolonia\, Pohnpei. \nThe PPA Conference brings together the major players in the electricity industry in the Pacific Islands\, the Private Sector and Development Partners to discuss the latest trends\, technology and developments in the industry through technical presentations\, panel discussions and a Trade Exhibition of products and services by our Allied Members. \nEach year the conference gains more participants and it is the largest energy conference in the region\, focusing on all aspects of electricity in the Pacific Islands. The 28th Conference held in Rarotonga\, Cook Islands\, was attended by 278 delegates with 45 trade booth displays. \nDATE AND VENUE \nThis year’s conference will be held at the College of Micronesia Gymnasium in Kolonia\, Pohnpei\, from 6-10 July 2020. This will be the second will be the second time for PUC to host the annual conference.

DESCRIPTION:Northern Pacific Utilities – June 20th – June 28th Pohnpei\, FSM \nSouthern Pacific Utilities – July 2nd – July 10th Apia\, Samoa \nOne of the main objectives of the Sustainable Energy Industry Development Project is to increase the capacity of PPA member utilities to increase and manage renewable energy technologies. As part of Component 2 of the project\, a program of activities has been designed to increase capacity within the PPA member utilities on planning for and management of the integration of variable RE in their systems. \nA Training Needs Assessment carried out recently by the PPA has identified a number of priority areas amongst the utilities where there is a need to build up the capacity of its staff. In light of this\, the PPA through the SEIDP will carry out a series of workshops to address some of these training needs. \nThe PPA with the support of the Pohnpei Utility Corporation and the Samoa Electric Power Corporation will be running a training workshop for the Northern Pacific utilities from June 20th – June 28th in and a corresponding workshop for the Southern Pacific Utilities from July 2nd – 10th 2018. \nThe workshops will cover the following: \n\nOperation\, maintenance and management of Solar PV installations including storage; and\nDesign and specifications of SCADA systems for integrating Renewable Energy generators.
