Each year, a diverse group of electric utilities and energy professionals\u2014including project developers, equipment suppliers, service providers, regional organizations, government representatives, and development partners\u2014gathers at a Pacific location to network, discuss issues, exchange expertise, and explore business opportunities. Theme<\/strong>: Ensuring fair rates and reliable services while accelerating investments in renewable energy and grids.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

When we refer to an energy system<\/em>, we are speaking about the entire system as a whole\u2014not just power systems. \u201cEnergy,\u201d as used in the conference theme, is a broader and more inclusive term that aligns with the objectives of digital transformation in modern grids. It encompasses the long\u2011term management of electricity generation, storage, and consumption, which is fundamental to the success of smart grids. This reflects the shift toward a more holistic approach to energy management, covering everything from energy production\u2014whether diesel\u2011based or renewable\u2014to storage, end\u2011use consumption, and digital optimization, rather than focusing solely on instantaneous power flow as traditional power systems often do.<\/p>\n

In contrast, power systems<\/em> focus specifically on the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity. While these functions are essential, they represent only one component of the broader picture when discussing the digital transformation of energy systems. The integration of digital technologies such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things is reshaping how energy systems operate. This digital transformation aims to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and resilience across electricity generation, transmission, and consumption.<\/p>\n

Associated Side Events<\/strong><\/p>\n

As part of the Annual Conference, and running concurrently with the main program, specialized workshops will be offered for Utility Board Directors, engineers, and technical staff.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][\/vc_tta_accordion][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_tta_accordion style=”modern” shape=”square” color=”juicy-pink” c_icon=”chevron” active_section=”” no_fill=”true” collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Guidance for Abstracts” tab_id=”1773290508564-bc8ab06f-7343″][vc_column_text css=””]Members of the PPA and invited guests are welcome to propose papers for presentations at the 33rd<\/sup> Annual Conference and Trade Exhibition. The proposed papers can be based on case studies, projects, and other works relevant to the theme.<\/p>\n

  • Papers are NOT <\/strong>to be commercial in nature but can explain principles of commercially available technologies.<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n
  • The official language of the conference and proceedings is English.<\/li>\n
  • It is \u00a0important\u00a0 \u00a0that \u00a0any \u00a0paper \u00a0in \u00a0PowerPoint\u00a0 \u00a0presentation\u00a0 \u00a0form \u00a0should \u00a0also \u00a0be accompanied \u00a0on\u00a0 USB \u00a0by \u00a0an\u00a0 associated \u00a0full \u00a0article \u00a0on\u00a0 the \u00a0same \u00a0topic \u00a0suitable \u00a0for inclusion in the Pacific Power Magazine. (i.e., with written text or Word format).<\/li>\n
  • In the case of Papers accepted for the conference, the authors or his\/her representative will be expected to attend to make the presentation. Submission of an abstract therefore implies a willingness to attend. Please check any necessary formalities concerning attendance to the Conference before submitting the abstract.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

Submissions must be short (no more than 200 words) and to the point. Abstracts should not have a lot of general theory and background. Instead, they should highlight innovations, concrete outcomes, and achievements, and explain why and how the presentation will provide value to the delegates attending the event. The abstract together with a brief CV\/Bio (less than 100 words) and a passport size photo of the author should be emailed to the Secretariat.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][\/vc_tta_accordion][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_tta_accordion style=”modern” shape=”square” color=”juicy-pink” c_icon=”chevron” active_section=”” no_fill=”true” collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Notification of Acceptance of Paper” tab_id=”1773290657010-a7ffac97-10d7″][vc_column_text css=””]Authors \u00a0will \u00a0be \u00a0notified \u00a0of\u00a0 acceptance \u00a0(or \u00a0otherwise) \u00a0as\u00a0 soon \u00a0as\u00a0 the \u00a0Abstracts \u00a0have \u00a0been reviewed by the Secretariat.\u00a0 \u00a0This notification will be provided no later than 22 September 2026. Final Papers must be emailed to the Secretariat by 30 September 2026<\/u><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    I wish to register my interest to present a Conference Paper on the topics associated with the theme \u201c<\/em>Ensuring fair rates and reliable services while accelerating investments in renewable energy and grids.<\/em><\/strong>\u201d\u00a0 <\/em>Preference will be given initially to papers that address the theme.<\/p>\n

    I will email the Secretariat an abstract<\/u> <\/strong>of the Paper by 18th<\/sup> September 2026<\/u><\/strong>. \u00a0If approved, I will email the Final Paper by \u00a030th<\/sup> September 2026<\/u> <\/strong>to the PPA Secretariat.[\/vc_column_text]
