The main objective of the PPA is to enhance the performance of power utilities in the region through a cooperative effort by maintaining a partnership among the Active Members, Allied Members and regional and international aid donors. This cooperative partnership will promote the development and efficiency of the Pacific island power industry through sharing of resources, encouraging and developing regional expertise in power industry and solicitation of additional outside resources as required to achieve the common objectives of the members.
To promote cooperative partnership, PPA should:
Utilise all available resources to assist members in training, resolving problems through sharing of information and expertise, and encourage members to be efficient and accountable in their operations.
Utilise group buying power to achieve real cost reductions in cost of goods and services within the region.
Establish a network of information sharing and expertise within the region. Organise annual meetings of members to share information, workshops on common and regional problems and issues, trade exhibitions for goods and services.
Interact with regional and international agencies and institutions.
