Kia Orana and greetings from the Pacific Power Association (PPA).
The PPA Secretariat is pleased to provide you with the summary information on this year’s 17th PPA Annual Conference and Trade Exhibition which will be hosted by the Cook Islands power utility, Te Aponga Uira (TAU) based in Rarotonga, Cook Islands.
The PPA conference will offer delegates a combination of speeches, donor presentations, technical presentations, Utility Board Members Workshop, a free day for delegates to network and Trade Exhibition of products and services by our suppliers.
In addition, the PPA will also concurrently hold the 4th Engineers Workshop.
Each year the conference gains more participants and it is the largest energy conference in the region, focusing on all aspects of electricity in the Pacific Islands. The 16th PPA Conference held in the Marshall Islands was attended by over 130 delegates with 27 trade booth displays
DATE & VENUE
The Conference venue rotates between the North and South hemispheres, which provide the delegates with the opportunity to re-look at their travel and prepare them for the next conference.
This year’s conference will be conducted in Rarotonga, Cook Islands from 11 – 15 August 2008. It will be the second time the Cook Islands will host the Annual Conference. The 2nd PPA Annual Conference was also conducted in Rarotonga in 1993.
The venues for this year’s conference are the Edgewater Resort & Spa, which is the official accommodation venue for all delegates and also the venue for the 4th Engineer’s Workshop and the Aroanui Community Hall (located 5 minutes from the resort), which will host the Trade Exhibition, technical presentations and the official opening of the 17th PPA Annual Conference.
